Date: Sunday September 22, 2002 Fish: Seabass, Blues
#: 30 seabass & 12 blues Largest: seabass: 3 lbs, Blue about 7
Location: 17 Fathoms
Crew: Allan, Dom & Ronnie (Stinky)
We went after a repeat of last week. Fishing was a bit tougher, but the crew was more experienced. So things worked out. We also ran out of squid bait which the sea bass seemed to prefer, but the clam worked well too (so did the mackerel). By the end of the day, we managed a good catch of sea bass. Then, I decided to put some effort into the blues. After catching 5 and landing 4, Allan tried. About an hour later, he had one, as did Ronnie (Stinky) And Dom (with my help) had 2, so we headed back in. As for the size, Allan had the largest bass & Stinky had the largest blue, but the catch of the day goes to Dom. He pulled up a keeper-double-header sea bass & Allan's rod! About 1/2 hour before, Allan had a hit and when he swung, he said a huge fish ripped the rod from his hands. I was doubtful that is this were true we'd find his rod. A big fish would have swam off with it. Still Allan & I rigged a few trebles and dragged the bottom in all directions he thought the rig floated off in. And a few more too. Ronnie & Dom continued bass fishing. Just as Allan gave up and the reality of him not having his favorite light outfit any more, Dom reeled it in. I reached over and reeled it in only to find the sinker stuck on the bottom. "Big fish huh Allan??!" Well, it all turned out ok, except for a lost anchor, busted sump pump in the head, busted head pump and the alarm doesn't work... Ahhh... The joys of boat ownership.
