On this 6th trip of the year, our intentions were to fish for Bass, limit out in a few hours and then go catch some tasty fluke. Well... we proceeded to our favorite Bass spot in the rockaways only to find all the Bass must have been away on vacation! After an hour of nothing but a few skates (Bob always has to catch a few skates) one of our friends from the Skipper John forum called us over to a spot working out well for him. We joined them around 10 am only to have yet another forum friend call us over a few hundred yards further inshore. This was the magic. These two moves put us in Bass heaven. We were hooking up one after another with all 4 fishermen hooked up at once! At 11:30, with 4 NICE bass in the cooler (& 17 more released-Bob=7, Al=7, Skipper=4, Ronnie=3) we switched to Fluke. We ran over to a spot that worked well for me on Wednesday, 4 days prior, but no luck. I adjusted the drift according to the difference in the wind and we managed about 7 fluke (2 keepers) and 4 spotted sole. In all, it was a great day on the water with great friends.
