Dispite forcats for 5 foot waves, small craft warnings & 25 knot winds, realizing the wind was going to be predominantly from the N by NW, we decided this was the day to go. What a great decision! From the moment we broke the inlet, we saw birds like swarms of bees over their hive. This bird activity kept up all day and stretched from just west of Debbs eastward to Jones inlet. We casted a few metals and scored immediately with taylor blues. After an hour of fun with the blues we decided to go back to play "A" and rigged the wire outfits. With a white and silver spoon we began to score on bluefish after bluefish, only these fish were bigger. Much bigger, with swollen bellies from the weakfish, spearing and bunker they were feeding on, they still went after our offerings. After a while of that, we went back to casting. Bert rigged one rod with an AVA 17 and went down to the bottom and scored almost immediately with a nice keeper bass. On the next cast a blue ate the lure and that was that. I let my crippled herring sink & scored with 2 or 3 more bass (1 was a keeper). Then a bit more trolling (and lure loosing) and before we knew it, it was time to head back.
