A somewhat late start and mixed plans took us south east towards rockpiles 1. Tom wanted to go sharking. Everyone else would have been happy
catching footballs on light tackle. I tried to compromise but it was no use. So with 5 cans of chum in tow, and 4 flats of bait, we put the
lines in the water with 10 miles to go. We had a nice 31" tuna right away. Then Tommy got impatient and asked to set up for shark where we were
(about midway between rock piles 2 & 1). We set up with little drift in thick fog but had movement from the current. We had a shark early on
which I swear was a small thresher. We lost it due to a dull hook (right Tommy?) but sharpened it and got a few bluedogs around 80 pounds each.
Then after several hours of nothing, we changed over to trolling again and got 2 more quick bluefin and headed back to the barn. The tuna were mostly
taken on a zuchinni drone pulled tight to the transome. We were trolling around 7.5 knots just south east of the weather bouy. The radio was alive with
chatter or a few dolphin being taken, a white marlin at the yankee and finally a great white seen by bassboy on his 17 footer at rockpiles 1.
