An early start proved worthy. We broke the inlet by 7am and shortly afterwards found ourselves following a pair of frolicking dolphin (mammals).
There were around 6 boats working a pod of bunker-fruitlessly, but our dolphin lead us to another location with a small tight spookless pod.
in spite of all sorts of idiocy after other boats arrived, these dolphin would not spook until after noon where they became a bit more skittish.
First thing we filled the live-well with some bunker then proceeded to fish. This being the first time in a year we fished whole live
bunker, we lost the first 4 or 5 run-offs. I tried rebaiting my bunker through the back and soon it was game on with a nice 32" fish in the cooler.
By days end Allan had boated the largest fish, 43" and a 33 incher which was released. I boated 3 fish 2 of which came home and Bob landed
a nice fat 24 pound 39" fish. Bob was fishing chunks and earlier after a short but heated battle lost a monster. I guess we'll never know the
size of that fish. Around 1:00 we ran to Riis to try for fluke. We ended up boating a 4 spotted sole and 7 short fluke & 2
decent sea bass.
